Roles and Procedures of Publication

First: Publication Guidelines

  1. Taiz University Research Journal publishes research papers submitted in accordance with the following regulations. Manuscripts are accepted in both Arabic and English from researchers within and outside the University.

  2. Submitted manuscripts must be original, meet recognized scientific research standards and criteria, and must not have been previously published.

  3. Authors publishing in the journal for the first time are required to submit a brief academic biography.

  4. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with established scientific principles and accepted research methodologies.

  5. Manuscripts should be submitted to the journal's contact addresses in Microsoft Word format using Simplified Arabic font, size 12. The title should be typed in font size 13. The manuscript should be formatted on A4 paper with double spacing and margins of 2.5 cm on both the right and left sides. The page size should be 17.5 × 23 cm, and the manuscript should not exceed 25 pages, including references and appendices.

  6. The manuscript must be linguistically reviewed by the author or a professional language editor. It should conform to the journal's formatting requirements and template, and all formatting responsibilities remain with the author.

  7. The journal adopts three levels of headings without numbering as follows:

    • Level One Heading: Centered, bold, font size 13.

    • Level Two Heading: Right-aligned, bold, font size 13.

    • Level Three Heading: Right-aligned, regular font, size 13.

  8. For peer review purposes, an electronic copy of the manuscript in Microsoft Word format should be submitted either electronically or via the journal’s designated communication channels.

  9. Manuscripts are submitted confidentially to a panel of reviewers holding senior academic ranks (Professor or Associate Professor).

  10. Manuscripts are accepted for publication if the reviewers' reports are favorable. Authors may be required to make revisions if requested by the reviewers. Manuscripts may be rejected if reviewers recommend rejection.

  11. Authors affiliated with universities and research institutions other than Taiz University are required to pay a review fee of 50,000 Yemeni Riyals. Researchers from outside the Republic of Yemen are required to pay a review fee of USD 200. Researchers affiliated with Taiz University are exempt from publication and review fees.

  12. In the event of rejection, submitted fees and manuscripts will not be returned. Authors retain full copyright ownership of their work.

  13. The journal welcomes reports on scientific conferences and other academic activities upon request by the organizing institution.

  14. The journal welcomes abstracts of approved Master's and Doctoral theses in the fields of humanities and related disciplines.

  15. Each manuscript should include the title, abstract (in both Arabic and English), introduction, research methodology, results and discussion, and recommendations. The abstract should not exceed 250 words.

  16. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively and placed at the end of the manuscript.

  17. Tables, figures, and charts should be prepared on separate pages and accompanied by their respective sources.

  18. References cited within the text should include the author's name, year of publication, and page number whenever possible, enclosed in parentheses. Example: (Al-Madhhaji, 1991, p. 76).

  19. References should be listed at the end of the manuscript according to the following format:

  20. Books:
    Author's Name – Title of the Book – Publisher – Place of Publication – Year of Publication.

  21. Journal Articles:
    Author's Name – Article Title – Journal Title – Place of Publication – Issue Number – Year of Publication.

  22. The following author information must be provided:

    • Full Name

    • University/Institution

    • Country

    • Specialization

    • E-mail Address

Research Paper Structure

The journal does not require a single fixed structure for all research papers due to the diversity of scientific disciplines. However, manuscripts generally follow one of the following models:

Essential Components of the Manuscript

The manuscript should contain the following elements:

Introduction

The introduction should present the nature of the study, its rationale, the need for the research, the theoretical framework, and relevant previous studies in an integrated manner without separate prominent headings.

Research Problem, Objectives, Questions, and Hypotheses

The manuscript should clearly define the research problem and state its objectives, questions, and hypotheses.

Significance, Scope, and Terminology

Authors should explain the significance of the study, its limitations, and the terminology used.

Research Procedures

This section should include details regarding:

  • Research methodology

  • Population and sample

  • Research instrument(s)

  • Validity and reliability of instruments

  • Data collection procedures

  • Data analysis methods

Results and Discussion

Results should be presented, analyzed, interpreted, and discussed in relation to relevant literature. Conclusions, recommendations, and future research suggestions should be provided where appropriate. Tables and figures should be incorporated within the text, and numerical data presented in tables should not be unnecessarily repeated in the narrative.

Conclusion

A conclusion should summarize the major findings and recommendations of the study.

References

A complete list of Arabic and foreign references cited in the manuscript should be provided at the end.

Second: Reference Documentation Procedures

  1. Manuscripts must strictly follow the citation and referencing guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA), Sixth or Seventh Edition (APA 7).

  2. The Holy Qur’an: If the Holy Qur’an is cited as a reference, it should be listed at the beginning of the reference list without adhering to any specific referencing format. Citations should include only the name of the Surah and verse number, e.g., (Ar-Ra'd: 20). Qur'anic verses should be written in the Uthmani script.

  3. Prophetic Hadiths: References to Hadith should be cited within the text as follows:
    [Book Title, Volume Number/Page Number: Hadith Number].

  4. References cited within the text should include the author's surname, year of publication, and page number in parentheses, for example:
    (Cristin, 2013, p. 12) or (Al-Sanea, 2009, p. 20).

Full bibliographic details should be provided in the reference list. References should be arranged alphabetically by the author's surname, with Arabic references listed first, followed by foreign-language references, without numbering.

A. Books

References to books should be presented as follows:

Author's Surname, Full Name. (Year of Publication). Book Title (Edition Number). Publisher: Place of Publication.

Example:

Al-Sanea, Mohammed Ibrahim. (2009). Environmental Education for University Students (4th ed.). Abadi Center for Studies, Publishing and Distribution: Sana’a, Yemen.

B. Journal Articles

References to journal articles should be presented as follows:

Author's Surname, Full Name. (Year of Publication). Article Title. Journal Title, Volume Number(Issue Number), Page Range.

Example:

Al-Maamari, Suleiman Abdu Ahmed. (2013). Nanotechnology Culture and Attitudes toward It among Secondary School Science Teachers in Taiz City. Sana’a University Journal of Educational and Psychological Sciences, 9(2), 141–149.

C. Electronic Publications

Electronic sources should be cited only in footnotes and should not be included in either the main text or the reference list. The citation should include the URL and the date of access.

  1. Authors must ensure complete consistency between in-text citations and the reference list.

  2. Upon acceptance of a manuscript, authors are required to pay the review and publication fees approved by the journal for researchers from within and outside Yemen.

  3. The journal reserves the right to make editorial modifications in wording, style, and arrangement when necessary for publication purposes, provided that such changes do not affect the scientific content of the manuscript.

  4. The journal reserves the right to decline consideration of manuscripts that do not comply with the publication guidelines and regulations.

  5. Upon final acceptance for publication, all publication rights shall automatically be transferred to the Journal of Educational Sciences and Humanities Studies, Taiz University, Yemen.

  6. Opinions expressed in published articles are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the journal, the university, or the editorial board.

  7. Manuscripts may be submitted through the journal website, the journal e-mail address, or the designated communication channels.


Third: Publication Procedures

  1. Authors must submit both Microsoft Word and PDF versions of their manuscripts. The submission should include the author's full name, academic degree, specialization, position, department, faculty, university, country, and e-mail address. Files must be compatible with recent Microsoft Word versions under the Windows operating system.

  2. Two abstracts, one in Arabic and one in English, each not exceeding 200 words, must be provided. Authors should also include three to five keywords. The cover page must contain the title of the manuscript, academic title, institutional affiliation, country, department, specialization, telephone number, and e-mail address.

  3. The Editorial Board conducts an initial screening of submitted manuscripts before sending them to expert reviewers in the relevant discipline. The journal will notify authors of the final publication decision. Authors are required to implement any revisions requested by reviewers before publication approval is granted. Rejected manuscripts will not be returned, and the reasons for rejection will be communicated to the author.

  4. Authors should provide copies of appendices or research instruments if these are not included in the main text. Appendices are submitted for review purposes but are not published.

  5. Reviewer comments and recommendations will be forwarded to the author for revision. The revised manuscript must then be resubmitted to the journal.

  6. Authors must submit a signed declaration, using the journal's prescribed form, confirming that the manuscript has not been published in whole or in part, either in print or electronically, and is not under consideration by another publisher or journal.


Fourth: Research Ethics

  1. Authors must maintain a high academic and professional standard throughout all stages of research.

  2. Authors must comply with publication ethics and citation standards. The overall similarity index must not exceed 25% of the manuscript, and similarity from a single source must not exceed 5%. Authors are expected to rely on primary references and properly acknowledge all sources of information.

  3. Direct quotations from other sources must not be used without proper citation and attribution.

  4. Authors must acknowledge the contributions of all participants involved in the research and recognize any financial or non-financial support received.

  5. Researchers must obtain prior approval from the relevant university or research institution before conducting field research when required.

  6. Authors must adhere to the journal's submission guidelines and must not publish any part of the manuscript elsewhere before publication.

  7. Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed to the Editor-in-Chief.

  8. Reviewers are prohibited from using information obtained through the review process for personal benefit and must maintain strict confidentiality.

  9. The journal publishes only original and unpublished materials to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

  10. Reviewer identities and personal information are maintained in a secure database that complies with data protection standards.

  11. Authors bear full responsibility if their work is found to contain excessive plagiarism, unauthorized use of others' work, false authorship claims, duplicate publication, or republication without valid scientific and legal justification.

  12. The opinions and conclusions expressed in published articles are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the journal, Taiz University, or the Editorial Board. Authors are solely responsible for any errors contained in their work.

Fifth: Copyright and Licensing

The Journal of Educational Sciences and Humanities Studies is a fully Open Access journal. All published content is freely accessible and licensed for reading, downloading, sharing, copying, and reuse, in whole or in part, without requiring prior permission from either the journal or the author, under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Users may use, distribute, and reproduce the published materials provided that proper attribution is given to the original authors and source, in accordance with the principles of academic integrity and scientific citation. Such use must be non-commercial in nature. Both the journal and the authors retain their respective copyright and authorship rights.


Sixth: Journal Policies

A. Manuscript Submission Policy

  1. Manuscripts are received through the journal's website or official e-mail address. The date of receipt is recorded upon submission.

  2. Authors must submit a signed declaration confirming that the manuscript has not been previously published, is not currently under consideration elsewhere, and will not be submitted to another publication venue until the review and publication process has been completed.

  3. The Editorial Board conducts an initial screening of each submission to ensure compliance with the journal's requirements and approved template. If deficiencies are identified, authors will be requested to address them before the manuscript proceeds to peer review.

  4. Manuscripts deemed suitable for review are sent confidentially to two expert reviewers in the relevant field. If one reviewer recommends rejection and the other recommends acceptance after revision, the manuscript is referred to a third reviewer for a final decision regarding publication.

  5. Following the completion of peer review, reviewer comments and recommendations are communicated to the author for revision in accordance with accepted academic research standards.

  6. After the author submits the revised manuscript, the revisions are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and may be referred to the reviewers for a second evaluation.

  7. Upon satisfactory completion of the required revisions, the author receives an official Letter of Acceptance specifying the revision and publication dates.

  8. Accepted manuscripts are assigned publication details, formatted according to the journal template, and prepared for publication.

  9. The journal is published electronically and subsequently in print. Authors receive an electronic copy of the complete issue as well as an electronic offprint of their published article. The journal is made available through its official website, the Taiz University website, and various academic indexing and archiving platforms.

  10. Published articles are indexed in Google Scholar.

  11. Manuscripts may be rejected by the Editorial Board or reviewers if they fail to comply with publication requirements, violate research ethics, lack originality, or do not meet accepted scholarly standards. Authors will be informed of the reasons for rejection.

  12. The journal periodically screens submitted manuscripts for plagiarism and academic misconduct.


B. Peer Review Policy

  1. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability for peer review and compliance with publication standards. The Editor-in-Chief may reject submissions that fall outside the journal's scope or fail to meet publication requirements.

  2. All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Educational Sciences and Humanities Studies are subject to a confidential peer-review process conducted electronically through the journal website or official communication channels.

  3. Eligible manuscripts are reviewed by two independent experts in the relevant discipline. If one reviewer rejects the manuscript and the other recommends acceptance after revision, a third reviewer is appointed to make the final recommendation.

  4. Manuscripts are evaluated using the journal's official review form. Reviewers are normally requested to complete their evaluations within two weeks. If a reviewer fails to respond within the designated period, the manuscript may be assigned to another reviewer.

  5. Reviewers are required to complete the evaluation form, provide comments directly on the manuscript where necessary, and submit a detailed report addressing any issues not covered by the evaluation form.

  6. Authors are expected to submit revised manuscripts within a maximum period of three weeks, accompanied by a detailed response outlining the revisions made.

  7. Revised manuscripts are forwarded to the review committee to verify compliance with reviewer recommendations. Upon satisfactory revision, the author receives a formal acceptance letter specifying the publication year, volume, issue, and publication date.

  8. If reviewers recommend rejection, the Editor-in-Chief sends an official notification to the author explaining the reasons for the decision.

  9. The journal adopts a Double-Blind Peer Review policy, whereby neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other's identities.


C. Open Access Policy

The Journal of Educational Sciences and Humanities Studies provides immediate, free, and unrestricted access to all published content without financial, legal, or technical barriers.

All articles become freely available on the journal's website immediately upon publication and may also be deposited in institutional repositories, indexing databases, and the Taiz University Repository.

Readers are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, cite, and link to the full texts of published articles, provided that proper academic attribution is maintained.


D. Correction and Retraction Policy

  1. If a published article contains a significant error, the journal may issue a correction by withdrawing the erroneous version and replacing it with a corrected version.

  2. The Editorial Board may retract a published article when there is documented evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, research misconduct, or any violation that compromises the integrity and reputation of the journal.

  3. Retraction may also occur when substantial scientific errors are discovered that invalidate the study's findings or conclusions.

  4. Authors will be formally notified of the final retraction decision, and relevant institutions or stakeholders may be informed when necessary.

  5. An official retraction notice will be published on the journal's website to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
