Language Readiness Skills and Their Relationship to Social Intelligence Among Kindergarten Children: A Predictive Study from the Perspective of Educators.

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the relationship between language readiness skills and social intelligence among kindergarten children from the point of view of their nannies.

     The sample consisted of (120) children enrolled in private and public kindergartens, distributed according to gender to (55) males, (65) females, (5%) of the total kindergarten children in Taiz city. The sample was randomly selected.

     Two scales prepared by the researcher were used in the study, after ensuring the validity and consistency:

        The scale of language readiness skills, and the scale of social intelligence.

The following results were shown:

- The level of language readiness skills among kindergarten children is high.

- The level of social intelligence among kindergarten children is very high.

- There were no statistically significant differences among kindergarten children (p. < 0.05) in the language readiness skills according to gender variable (males - females), and according to the Gregorian order (first, middle, last). the variable of

- There were statistically significant differences among kindergarten children (p. < 0.05) in the language readiness skills according to the variable of number of siblings in the family

      (1 - 3, 4 - 6, 7 - 9).

- There were no statistically significant differences among kindergarten children (p. < 0.05) in social intelligence according to gender variable (males - females), the variable of the Gregorian order (first, middle, last), and the variable of number of siblings in the family (1 - 3, 4 - 6, 7 - 9).

- The social intelligence predicts the language readiness skills by (22.). This means that there is positive relationship between social intelligence and language readiness skills, that is, the greater the social intelligence, the greater the language readiness skills.

   After reaching the results, the researcher made a number of recommendations and proposals.
