Level of depression among patients visiting the Psychiatric and Neurological Hospital in Taiz

The current study aimed to identify the level of depression among patients visiting th Psychiatric and Neurological Hospital in Taiz city and to examine differences according to gender (males and females). The primary research population consisted of 300 patients who visited the Psychiatric and Neurological Hospital during the third quarter of 2024. The Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) was used as the measurement tool, and the scale's psychometric properties were extracted. The results indicated that the level of depression among patients visiting the Psychiatric Hospital in Taiz city was above the hypothetical average of the scale. Additionally, no significant differences were found between genders in terms of depression levels, as it was equally high between both males and females.
